UAE Embassy welcomes Ghana-Russia Center’s youth initiatives
A delegation from the Ghana-Russia Center for Commerce and Relations (GRCCR) was hosted by the United Arab Emirates Embassy, and welcomed by H.E. Amer Ali Al Alawi, UAE Head of Mission to Ghana.
The primary purpose of the delegation involved exploring business opportunities that could enhance socio-economic collaboration between GRCCR and UAE. They also discussed ways to engage youth in these initiatives. GRCCR plays a crucial role in fostering youth engagements and diplomatic relations between nations, providing a platform for dialogue, understanding, and cooperation in various sectors.
Key members of the delegation included Head of Communications, Michael Acquah; Head of Business Development and Innovations, Ziona Ayorkor Biney; and Head of International Projects, Kow Korankye Taylor. The delegation was led by its Founder and Chief Executive Officer, John Aggrey. In attendance was also Madam Ghina Karroum.
In his opening remarks, the UAE Head of Mission to Ghana, H.E. Amer Ali Al Alawi, stated, “the presence of young professionals in the delegation underscored the future focus on engaging the youth in economic and diplomatic activities that can contribute to national prosperity and youth advocates who are committed to leveraging partnerships for sustainable development”.
He added, “the visit is considered significant not only for the potential economic benefits but also for strengthening ties between the UAE as a new member to BRICS+ nations and non-state actors, thereby enhancing intercontinental growth and collaborations”.
During the discussions, several key points were raised concerning potential collaborations in sectors such as education, tourism, technology and knowledge transfer, climate change and SDGs with a primary focus on youth as focal actors.
Mr. Aggrey emphasized the importance of harnessing collective resources and expertise to foster development in Ghana, particularly with a focus on youth engagement in these sectors.
“Our primary goal for this visit is to engage the UAE stakeholders through the Embassy on dialogues of cooperation centered around identifying specific projects that could facilitate knowledge transfer and skill development and exchanges for the younger generation,” he said.
One of the noteworthy proposals discussed was the establishment of a framework for technical exchange programs and innovative sustainable projects aimed at empowering both Ghanaian and Emirati youths. This initiative aligns with the objectives of both nations to nurture a skilled workforce that can effectively contribute to their economies and youth policy development.
H.E. AI Alawi responded positively to these proposals, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to supporting youth initiatives through strategic partnerships, thus showcasing enthusiasm for actionable collaborations.
As both nations actively participate in global trade dialogues, initiatives such as the Dialogue of Cooperation have become crucial in solidifying relationships and boosting socio-economic exchanges. The emphasis on enhancing business opportunities not only serves the interests of both countries but also promotes a broader understanding of their respective cultural landscapes.
Upcoming initiatives include joint workshops and investment forums that aim to connect entrepreneurs and investors from both regions. These projects are designed to promote dialogue, share best practices, and enhance the visibility of business opportunities available in each country.
By creating pathways for young people to engage in various sectors, both nations aspire to build sustainable economies that are resilient and forward-looking. GRCCR creates an enabling environment and safe space for youth-led and youth focused organizations to thrive through dialogues and engagements.
