Twinsax Holds 3rd Gospel Jazz Evening Africa In Nigeria
Twinsax Ayodele; a Nigerian gospel jazz saxophone duo, on April 24, 2016 held the third edition of their Gospel Jazz Evening Africa concert (#GJEA2016). They partnered with their crew — JazzMinded — on the campus of Oduduwa University Ipetumodu (OUI) in Osun Nigeria to host the event.
The event provided a platform in the ancient Nigerian city of Ile – Ife for the gathering of young gospel campaigners across Africa that drew an audience from other Nigerian cities like Jos, the capital Abuja, the populous city of Lagos and fellow west African country – Ghana.
Hosts Twinsax were joined by an eclectic array of Jazz performers and other gospel musicians to treat the impressive gathering to exciting and spirit filled performances.
Ministering alongside Twinsax were compatriots like saxophonist Jerry Omole; the Lagos based multi-instrumentalist, base guitarist Ike ‘Gruvman’; who thrilled the crowd with his dance moves on the strings, Hiteesticks, Godstime, Wale Sax, Mrs. Bisi Lawal; Bursar of OUI where the event was held and also a respected saxophonist herself. Also present were Pastor Fola, the GJEA mass choir, and Francis Kwame Jnr.; a saxophonist from Ghana among others.
The audience was thrown into an intense moment of prayer and meditation when the renowned multi-instrumentalist Jerry Omole graced the stage alongside Twinsax Ayodele who consider him a mentor. They together took the event to another climax.
In an interview with TheAfricanDream.net after the event, Twinsax Ayodele said they were overwhelmed and humbled by support from the media, audience and artists, and all who helped make it a blast, saying: “though they say ‘the beautyful ones are not yet born’ [an allusion to the book by Ayi Kwei Armah], the shining of this generation’s light proves the whole idea wrong as what was manifest here tonight by these performers and indeed everyone is nothing short of an amazing blessing which marks the setting of a new horizon for African gospel music”
“We are also thankful to people who showed up in their numbers to support #GJEA2016 so the world hears of how the Lord is using these amazing talents to spread the Gospel and touch lives while enriching spirits from everywhere, not only in Nigeria or Africa. Big thanks to Wilson Uche Wilson of OUiGossip; the event’s official press partner. We are thanking other Nigerian press crew like Zion’s Gate Magazine, CoolFM Abuja and its veteran on-air personality Christopher Molokwu, the OUI and African Pride press crew respectively” — Twinsax Ayodele.
TheAfricanDream.net of the USA provided press and social media support to the event and joined Twinsax in showing appreciation to guests like Beatrice Miangogo of Zion’s Gate Magazine who conducted the Orange Carpet interviews, Otunba 1, Godstime from Jos, Pastors James Eboh and Adele Folaranmi; Founder of YFCF (Youth of Faith in Christ Fellowship) of Ife, Renascent Studio Photography, Pastor James who gave the event’s opening prayer and Scott C. Eneje of Generals International.
The musical gospel jazz concert event and tour was first held July 12, 2014 at the Elim Church in Buachi Nigeria. The second edition took place at the OUI in Osun on April 26, 2015 which is where the show organizers went back to for the 2016 edition.
According to Twinsax who are mostly based in the Nigerian Federal Capital of Abuja, #GJEA is an avenue where jazz minded gospel artists and musicians get to lead their audience into an intense worship and quality praise session through their instruments.
