Accra, Ghana — Renowned philanthropist, Daisy Mina Antwi, has made a new headline with her unique community outreach program, “The Smile Project.” The recently launched initiative provided basic essentials to a community in Accra, Ghana, during its one-day outreach.
In an exclusive interview with TheAfricanDream.net, Daisy revealed her vision “to achieve something never done before.” She also expressed the passion to provide a “simultaneous provision of essential services, including school renovations, medical screenings, stationary, and supervise the registration of 1,500 children on the Ghana National Health Insurance Scheme.” Daisy called them the “key highlights” of her project’s campaign.
She is the founder of GoldCoast Literacy Program (GCLP), a Ghanaian non-profit organization that focuses on increasing child literacy in Ghana. Daisy is a Communication Specialist and Consultant known for her non-profit advocacy, with a particular interest in children welfare. She is also an event consultant, hostess, and manager.
Her team launched The Smile Project on October 12, 2024, but the initiative was made possible through partnerships with Ghanaian institutions like Letap Pharmaceuticals, BLB Insurance & Travel, and Rabito Clinic.
“Although we faced logistical challenges and initial rejections of my proposals for this project, my team and I remained steadfast and positive. We encouraged ourselves after witnessing the impact of our first edition of The Smile Project. And indeed that was also what gradually encouraged potential donors and goodwill ambassadors to gradually come in to support us and make this cause a reality,” acknowledged Daisy to TheAfricanDream.net in her interview.
Nii Afia III, Chief of Afiaman in the Amasaman municipal district of Accra, expressed profound gratitude to Ms. Antwi, urging others to emulate her selfless actions. Volunteers also praised her “unwavering” dedication, describing her as “a force to be reckoned with in Ghana’s education and child advocacy.”
With The Smile Project, Daisy believes she’s solidifying her commitment to changing narratives, while “leaving no one behind.” According to her, she wants her tireless efforts to continue to inspire hope and transformation in Ghanaian communities.
“I’m driven to make a difference and create a lasting impact. I urge others to join me in this mission to change lives and empower communities, and thank all those who have been with me through the years on this journey,” she explained to TheAfricanDream.net.
