This year, TheAfricanDream.net is excited to be a media partner for the Tema Konnect Virtual meetups. Due to COVID-19, GhanaThink has not been organizing any Barcamps – since 2020. The good news is that GhanaThink has mostly gone virtual with its events as a way of keeping engaged with its programs including the Tema Konnect meetups.
#TemaKonnect is a group for Barcamp Tema participants and others who live or are interested in happenings in and around the Greater Accra Region of Ghana which houses Ghana’s capital. The group seeks to build and enhance networks, spread good information, drive learning and sharing, as well as relevant events and opportunities.
Its members aspire to positive growth in a way that impacts its environs. This community and other Konnect groups is administered by GhanaThink, a social enterprise focused on the youth empowerment space with programs for youth in networking, mentoring and training, as well as volunteering.
On March 1, 2021, Founder and Creative Executive Officer of Lema Concepts Africa Fiona Wilberforce-Kamau will be a special guest on this #TemaKonnect virtual meetup. It would be on Zoom from 6pm – 8pm GMT. The general public is invited to join via the zoom meeting ID: 831 3630 6582 and link: bit.ly/TemaKonnect3.
Ato Ulzen-Appiah who is a co-founder of GhanaThink Foundation stated: “It’s going to be exciting to learn about and from Ms. Wilberforce-Kamau while she is on the Tema Konnect Kouch,” continuing that “it would be a good way to start off Ghana Month and hear what Fiona’s #GhanaianDream is,” — Mr. Ulzen-Appiah to TheAfricanDream.net from Ghana.
This would be the 4th Tema Konnect Virtual meetup, after the earlier editions featured Nathan Quao (Omni Media), Inna Patty (Exclusive Events Ghana) and Whitney Boakye-Mensah (Innorvationseventswbm). One time presidential candidate of Ghana Marricke Gane (Gane4Ghana) and Peter Kwofie Bismark (ILAPI) have been on the Konnect Kouch at physical meetups as well. They have been mentors for Barcamps organized in Ghana. Another physical meetup dubbed “Inside Tema” was organized at Innospace, a #bctema partner and innovation hub in Tema.
In a brief history about Barcamp Tema and what will be special about this meetup, Mr Peter Asare Nyarko – Barcamp Tema Resources Lead – said: “the greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members. GhanaThink Foundation through its Barcamp Ghana Programs through which Tema Konnect emerged is gathering young and creative minds (entrepreneurs, young professionals, doers) in Ghana’s popular port city of Tema and inspiring them to be agents of positive change…”
This Tema Konnect meetup is organized by the Barcamp Tema team within the GhanaThink Foundation with TheAfricanDream.net providing regular updates as event media partner. It is to bring together people who live in Tema, or hail from it or are interested in it.
Mr Benjamin Adadevoh – Barcamp Tema lead – encouraged the general public to catch up with the hashtag #TemaKonnect across all respective social media platforms online for updates or directly visit Facebook.com/BarcampTema for more info about how to become a partner, sponsor, or even a guest.
