Tema Choir USA rekindles Hope in Assisted Living Facilities With Music
Singing at nursing homes is one of the many activities that can provide joy, peace, and healing to the residents. For this reason Mr. Ebenezer Allotey a renowned choir director is spearheading an ambitious initiative to explore how music and singing can feature regularly in assisted living facilities across the United States (US).
The formation of Tema Choir USA (TC-USA) in November 2019 under the direction of Mr. Allotey is the first step to ensure this vision comes to life.
TC-USA is a diverse volunteer, non-auditioned choir with a mission to create community, foster unity and build a better world through music. Comprised of singers representing a wide range of age, religious beliefs, and cultural backgrounds, TC-USA uses choral music as a vehicle for community building and social good.

TC-USA intends to hold at least four performances annually to raise funds for those the less privileged on both the local and national scale. This was kicked off when as part of the 2019 Christmas festivities, the choir visited several nursing homes to minister to senior adults.
Sunrise Assisted Living Center located in Burke, Virginia on Saturday, December 28 played host to the group’s first mini Christmas Concert. “We felt grateful for the opportunity we had to minister to senior adults who are often forgotten. The joy to brought to their faces was priceless to us. Our presence and songs rekindled in them hope that they were not forgotten,” said Mr. Allotey.
They also visited the Glen’s Assisted Living Center in Woodbridge Virginia as well and filled the atmosphere with soothing Christmas Carols that brought the spirit of the season to both the residents and staff of the facility.
