Sankofa Radio wins Best Radio Station at GEA-USA Awards
Sankofa Radio, a leading diaspora radio station, has won the Best Radio Station category at the Ghana Entertainment Awards (GEA) USA 2024 which took place on Saturday, July 6, at the prestigious Merkin Hall, Kaufman Music Center in New York City.
The highly anticipated event celebrated the outstanding contributions of Ghanaian, African, and international entertainers across various categories. Entertainers are eligible for nominations regardless of age, sex, religion, disability or nationality.
Categories for nominations include various genres and styles of African music including High Life, Hiplife, Reggae, Dancers, Comedians, Visual Artists and many other performing artists categories.
Sankofa Radio, which began operations in 2008, continues to provide media services to the underserved populations across the globe. The radio station last won the category in 2019.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of Sankofa Radio, Mr. Dennis Boafo popularly known as a “Don Dee,” CEO of Ghana Music Awards-USA, appreciated the organizers and reitratrated Sankofa Radio’s vision to positively impact the society.
In a post-event statement to Oral Ofori of TheAfricanDream.net, GEA-USA emphasized the importance of hosting the awards as a means to celebrate “the magic that results from the passion and tenacity of the Ghanaian entertainment scene. The awardees have boundless creativity that show the best Ghana has to offer.”
The event was a resounding success, with attendees praising the organizers for their hard work and dedication. The event underscored the vibrant and dynamic nature of the Ghanaian and African entertainment industry, with a strong emphasis on recognizing talents from the diaspora.
