Inaugural Ohanaeze North America Town Hall Meeting & Igbo Ancestry Ceremony to hold in July
Nigerian Igbo social and cultural group Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo through its North American chapter will host its inaugural event “Ohanaeze North America Town Hall Meeting & Igbo Ancestry Ceremony” on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 10am Eastern Standard Time.
The event will hold under the theme “Securing Igbo Land through Economic Empowerment and Development” at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, 950 Independence Avenue SW., in Washington DC, USA.
Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is an apex Igbo organisation that seeks to speak for all Igbo groups both inside and outside of Nigeria. The group is not political organization, its key goal is to promote unity among its members in order to effectively represent the interests of Igboland.
Its North American chapter focuses on the economic development of Igbo land through collaborative efforts of Igbo sons, daughters and others in North America and the global communities.
The July event’s guest of honour will be Chief Dr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu (Ahaejiagamba Ndigbo), President-General, Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide.
The keynote speaker of the event is Professor Kingsley Chiedu Moghalu (Ifekaego of Nnewi Kingdom), former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, appointed under President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua’s administration, and a former Nigerian Presidential candidate.
Conveners of this event includes the executive leadership and trustees of Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo Worldwide.
