African Reform Movement (ARM) Marks 13th Anniversary October 2021
On the 25th of October 2008, over a Jollof lunch prepared by my then 93year old grandmother, I announced officially to my few friends the formation of the African Reform Movement (ARM), the Army of Hope. Today, October 25, 2021, the ARM is 13yrs old.
My grandmother told the gathering that as an eight-year-old boy, I told the family that I would be a doctor and a President of Ghana. She had witnessed the doctor part and was glad to see the beginning of the Presidential bit. She prayed that the same God should see me through.
I told my friends that the critical issue facing Ghana and Africa is our mindset (mɔdin sane as we say in Ga). I quoted Einstein, ‘’no problem can be solved at the same level of consciousness that created it’’ to buttress my point that, we need to reform our consciousness to be able to fix the mess we have created for ourselves. If nothing changes then we risk losing Ghana as we know it in 20years (2028).
As the Commander-in-Chief of the Army of Hope, I must give hope. I read the conclusion of ‘’Der Judenstaat’’ (The Jewish State) authored by the founder of the modern state of Israel, Theodor Herzl:
‘’Therefore, I believe that a wondrous generation of Jews will spring into existence. The Maccabeans will rise again. Let me repeat once more my opening words: The Jews who wish for a State will have it. We shall live at last as free men on our own soil and die peacefully in our own homes. The world will be freed by our liberty, enriched by our wealth, magnified by our greatness. And whatever we attempt there to accomplish for our own welfare, will react powerfully and beneficially for the good of humanity.’’

I believe that we also need a new generation of Ghanaians; a Ghanaian with a new and progressive consciousness, that will do all that Theodor prophesied for Israel, all of which have happened. My commitment is to help create this wondrous generation.
I ended my talk quoting the extraordinary Herzl on the timeline for the creation of the Jewish state:
“At Basel I founded the Jewish State. If I said this out loud today, l would be greeted by universal laughter. In five years perhaps, and certainly, in fifty years, everyone will perceive it.” 03/09/1897.
Theodor died at the age of 44 in 1904 but 43years later on 03/09/1947, exactly 50years to the day of the prophecy he made on 03/09/1897, the UN Special Committee on Palestine submitted its report on the partition of Palestine to the UN General Assembly. Theodor Herzl became a modern-day Ezekiel.
I told my friends that some might laugh at my vision, but in 10 years, the call for change would start, and certainly, in 15years, everyone would perceive it. In fact, few told me nothing could happen outside NDC and NPP. In 10years, I published ‘’The 5th Republic’’ that concretized my push for a new constitution that begets a new state. Today, the call for a new constitution is super febrile. Ghanaians who wish for a new state will have it.
My message to the true believers on our 13th birthday is in Habakkuk 2:3 NKJV
‘’For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.’’
