Award-winning Ghanaian artist and philanthropist Regina Lamisi Anabilla Akuka, known professionally as Lamisi, has announced her new charity concert, ‘Rhythms for a Cause’ scheduled for +233 Jazz Bar & Grill, North Ridge , Accra, Ghana, on March 1, 2025.
The concert is aimed at empowering young girls and raising awareness about menstrual health. According to Lamisi, proceeds from the event will go into donations of reusable sanitary pads.
She emphasized that menstrual health is frequently disregarded, yet it is vital to every young girl’s well-being and self-respect. Lack of access to education and menstrual hygiene products cause many girls to struggle, miss school, and experience stigma.
Attendees will get a memorable musical experience at the event while also supporting underprivileged girls’ menstrual health. It will feature performances from Lamisi, Mzbel, Gyedu Blay Ambulley, Amandzeba, and Wanlov The Kubolor.
Lamisi called the concert a call to action, a movement, and a chance for music lovers, activists, and good-hearted people to unite and enable young girls to live with dignity and self-assurance. During the ‘Rhythms for a Cause’ concert, she will perform in a way that is both thought-provoking and entertaining, according to her.
Lamisi is well-known for her dynamic mix of traditional African sounds, highlife, reggae, and Afro-soul. Her powerful performances and heartfelt lyrics have thrilled audiences in Ghana and abroad. Her music, which expresses sentiments of love, empowerment, and social change, has a strong African origin. Lamisi’s stage presence is exceptional, whether she’s performing a soul-stirring song or an energetic groove.

Lamisi started her singing career as the lead singer for the Patch Bay Band, performing throughout Ghana. She was inspired to make music after listening to Miriam Makeba, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, and Angelique Kidjo, among others. Lamisi has collaborated with artists such as Rocky Dawuni, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, Samini, Amandzeba, Atongo Zimba, Becca, Afro Moses, Patoranking, and Lady May.
Lamisi released “Tanka Fanka”, her debut single as a solo act. She describes her music as “Afro-fusion pop”. She has also released the singles “Mr Strawberry” and “Kuul Runnings.” Lamisi was given the moniker “Northern (Ghana) music goddess.”
Her nonprofit, Lamisi Music Foundation is dedicated to empowering and advocating for the rights of the girl child in Ghana. The foundation is raising an effort to ensure that the girl child has access to education and music opportunities for a brighter future.
The foundation continues to engage with local communities in the Northern region of Ghana to raise awareness about gender equality, child marriage, and female empowerment. She’s also open to partnering with other organisations to amplify their impact and reach more girls in need.
Her upcoming concert, ‘Rhythms for a Cause’ is open to music lovers, philanthropists, students, professionals, families, and anyone who thinks that their voice should be used for good. Because of its charity theme, the event is also open to donations and sponsorship.
