Ghanaian Veteran, Joseph Hammond Launches New Foundation in Style
Joseph Ashitey Hammond (Ex-WO1) displayed immense happiness at the lauch of his foundation on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 in Accra, Ghana. The 95 years old war veteran after witnessing the world war would yearn for world peace and seek to foster it through his eponymous nonprofit.
As commitment to his peace-ideology, he has been making commendable efforts to create awareness and provide solutions to issues that confronts the society. He tells TheAfricanDream.net that his Foundation’s launch will stand brazenly at the heart of this.
TheAfricanDream.net who were also the event’s media partner discovered in a post-event chat with the Foundation’s founder Ex-WO1 wants:
“the globe to keep remembering our sacrifice and to respect the peace that we have secured for the world, this must be jealously guarded, (he also went on to ask Ghanaians to) inculcate love and patriotism for the country and into the youths for peaceful coexistence and growth to be realized in Ghana and across Africa”
The official launch of ‘The Hammond Foundation’ was held at Movenpick Ambassador Hotel Accra, Ghana, and was strictly by invitation. Dignitaries and royalties were present at the event to grace the beginning of an accomplished legacy and service to humanity.
Mr. Patrick William Doodo – Ghanaian based international creative artist & SGD ambassador, gifted a custom-made $25,000 painting to the veteran, in a honorary gesture of support for the foundation’s peace goals.
Through his paintings, Patrick Dodoo has shared many of Africa’s forgotten stories. Over the years, he has been successful in presenting his works to a number of African leaders in the hopes of encouraging unity via the arts.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Band also sent delegations to venerate the veteran’s humanitarian nudge. The musical display by the GAF was a terrific show of perfection and military professionalism that left the Ex-WO1 honoured by the gesture. He took to his Twitter and Facebook to appreciate all the love.
