Ghana Tourism Auth. & GhanaWeb sign MoU to promote tourism 

Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and GhanaWeb, a Ghanaian news website, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote events and activities organized by GTA, the Ghanaian state agency responsible for regulating tourism. 

The MoU signing took place Friday, June 7, at the GTA head office, and was signed by Mr. Akwasi Agyeman, CEO of GTA, and Mr. David Antwi, CEO of GhanaWeb. 

The two organizations are committed to promoting tourism, cultural exchange, and diaspora engagement through GhanaWeb’s wider reach and strong diaspora readership.

Areas of collaboration

GTA and GhanaWeb will jointly support and participate in joint periodic conversations as may be mutually agreed, titled “Return Conversations.” It will facilitate dialogue, knowledge sharing, and engagement related to diaspora issues. It’ll establish a quarterly forum for stakeholders.

GhanaWeb, leveraging its extensive reach, will promote GTA’S annual “December in GH” campaign. This campaign attracts tourists and the global African diaspora to Ghana during this season. GhanaWeb will be recognized as the official media partner for December in GH. A December in GH page will be created on GhanaWeb to disseminate events information.

GhanaWeb will create a dedicated section on its website specifically for the “Beyond the Return” project. This section will feature relevant content, including articles, interviews, events and success stories related to diaspora engagement, investment, and cultural exchange.

Responsibilities

GTA will coordinate social media campaigns about “Beyond the Return” and “December in GH.” Inspiring stories, event updates, and engaging visuals will be shared, encouraging user-get content using relevant GTA hashtags.

GTA, in partnership with the Ghana Investment Promotion Company (GIPC), will use the GhanaWeb’s platform to promote investment opportunities in Ghana. There will be focus on areas such as tourism, real estate, agriculture, and technology. It will also encourage diaspora investors to set up business ventures in the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, the CEO of GhanaWeb, Mr. Antwi said his firm is excited to partner with GTA; and believes that this golden opportunity will deepen the relationships of both organizations.

Mr. Agyeman, CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority,  said GhanaWeb has a wider reach and a strong diaspora readership which will strengthen both organizations to be able to market and promote Ghana both domestically and internationally.
