Ghana’s Ambassador to U.S. attends CEANA’s 31st Annual Convention

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Hajia Alima Mahama, attended the 31st Annual Convention of the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) held at the Embassy Suites by Hilton in Loveland, Colorado, in the U.S. from August 29 – September 2, 2024.

The event, themed “Mina Mia Tu Ewe Dukor” (“Let Us Develop Eweland“), showcased CEANA’s dedication to socioeconomic and cultural advancement in Eweland. CEANA’s President, Dr. Tsatsu Nyamadi expressed gratitude to supporters and emphasized the organization’s focus on education and healthcare.

He honored the memory of Eweland’s “heroes and heroines” and quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson, highlighting CEANA’s mission to pioneer development in underserved areas. The convention featured calls for peaceful elections in Ghana, with Ambassador Mahama emphasising President Nana Addo’s promise of free and fair elections.

In her speech, Ambassador Mahama commended CEANA’s “community development efforts and announced new initiatives to support Ghanaian communities in the U.S., including modernised and effortless passport processes and Ghana card issuance.” The Ambassador also danced to demonstrate her support for CEANA’s convention.

Her presence indicated the importance of CEANA’s work and the Ghanaian government’s support for its initiatives. The convention was a resounding success, bringing together individuals passionate about Ewe culture and community development.

CEANA’s commitment to community and cultural pride extends beyond Ghana, serving as a beacon of hope for the Ewe people also across Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.

The organization aims to raise $200,000 to fund its projects dedicated to driving positive change. With a strong focus on education and healthcare, CEANA is committed to making a lasting impact in Eweland.

As CEANA continues to pioneer development in underserved areas, its commitment to community and cultural pride is expected to leave a lasting trail, inspiring others to follow in its footsteps.
