Bayern Munich beat PSG to win sixth Champions League title
What a season. What a story. And what a final to bring down the curtains on what has been nothing short of a spectacular Champions League edition. Bayern Munich’s superb 2020/21 season has been one to remember, with Flick coming in and completely changing the dynamic in both the Bundesliga and Europe. The journey wasn’t easy, but Bayern managed to Flick aside Chelsea, Barcelona and Lyon in excellent fashion. There was nothing those clubs could do about it. This was Bayern’s season to shine. And shine they did.
You couldn’t have asked for a more exciting final. The first half started in nervy fashion, as both sides weren’t quite at their best with the ball. The game calmed down a bit after the first 15 minutes, with Bayern dominating possession. Manuel Neuer’s superb double save to deny Neymar was one of the highlights of the game, and his counterpart Navas was amazing as well. Denying Lewandowski on more than one occasion from point blank range, he kept the score clean in the first half. Gradually, Bayern’s dominance started to assert itself and they created some good chances, with PSG coming close to scoring on two occasions. The PSG defense was also at its very best.
The second half was a completely different matter altogether. Bayern dominated the goings on, and with Thiago in midfield, PSG midfielders didn’t get many touches on the ball. Neuer was superb on goal, and made a vital save. The team played like 11 warriors, and there was a stark contrast observed between the Bayern and PSG players: the fight, the determination, the energy. It felt like they were sweating blood. Bayern’s choke in the final minutes of the game was too much for PSG to fight against. The better team emerged victors. Bayern are the kings of Europe.
And to you, fans of Bayern. This one’s for you to enjoy. After a 7 year drought with some painful exits, this feels like nirvana. Our team has done it. Now’s the time for celebration, and I’d recommend some schnitzel and weissbier. Miasanmia.
LA CHAAAAAAMPIOOOOOONSSS!!!!!!!!
