#TheAfricanDream goes back in time with AJ Dahottest
The photo is of AJ Dahottest from back in the year 2012 and was taken when he worked as a radio presenter and DJ with HitzFM in Ghana. It is always nice to see a childhood friend grow to become a great inspiration in your life. Augustine Jebor, aka AJ Babe is someone I grew up with side by side on the streets of Ghana’s and one of Africa’s first harbor city—Tema.
As far back as the late 1990’s, Augustine had always fascinated me with his ability to make music with the most basic of instruments and equipments. It was he who made me believe in beat boxing and lip-syncing even before I ever knew these things actually had names.
This brother has a way with beats that will make any great beats maker want him on their team. So I wasn’t surprised when he decided to nurture his talents in DJ’ing, MC’ing and radio. Way before I left the shores of Ghana, AJ Babe was already a presenter on radio stations in both Kumasi; the capital of Ghana’s Ashanti Kingdom and Accra, the capital City of Ghana.
Seeing my friend climb high despite all the difficulties he experienced growing up in the war torn West African country of Liberia greatly inspired me a lot. I will always think to myself, wow, this guy is just amazing, he’s a living testimony of what can come out of hard work and perseverance. Just because you’re having a hard life is still no excuse to throw in the towel and call it quits.
Augutine Jebor was doing some incredibly amazing work as a radio presenter and when I saw a video of him making an audio/video mix from his very own house after losing his job as a radio presenter and DJ with one of Ghana’s radio stations, I thought to myself wow: this guy never says die.
I feel so happy for AJ Dahottest now! I am so proud of his works and with his permission, In his own mind, Augustine thinks his music is a mixture of his best work for his fans across Ghana and Africa. These mixes are composed of his personal selection of the best in Rhythm and Blues, Hip-hop, Ghanaian Hip-life, Jamaican Dance-hall, African Hip-hop and a host of other exciting musical genres.
Check out the first episode of his audio/video mix, which is some 45 minutes long and showcases him in his crib using simple DJ equipments and his laptop to scratch, flap and cut beats that will give you a feel of being in the club. This mix, the first ever of its kind at the time was dubbed “AJ BABE: Chillin’ @ Home (video mix) episode 1” and you can watch it for yourself here on YouTube.
Inside his home in Ghana, is where you will find AJ Dahottest working on episodes of his phenomenal music talents. He tells me new songs are always in his mind and more will be released onto his YouTube and Facebook pages as he finishes work on them. You haven’t read the last of him here on my blog.
AJ who is already CEO of his music entertainment set up called Jay Entertainment, ss feverishly working with other first artistes to soon release his first album. AJ already has big dreams for Jay Entertainment as he looks forward to grooming young artistes, working with well established local and international ones, and branching out from music into events planning, acting and television.
