AfroXmas 2019 shows off the port city of Tema in Ghana to the world
TheAfricanDream.net is excited to be among the media partners for this year’s AfroXmas that will usher Ghana from 2019 into 2020 with authentic Ghanaian musical and cultural activities from the port city of Tema, located outside Ghana’s capital city of Accra.
SyPhics Studios, curators of AfroXmas this year welcomed the Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) to once again join hands in launching the festival. SyPhics, an innovative multimedia firm that specializes in events and artiste management also invited TheAfricanDream.net to media partner their third edition of AfroXmas after it was launched at the TMA offices in Ghana early this December. The other event organizers are Renegade Africa — a marketing firm, and 4Syte TV.
CEO of SyPhics Benjamin Swanzy Kwesi disclosed that “this will be the first time TheAfricanDream.net is partnering AfroXmas as a media provider, even though they’ve been supporting us quietly in the background for a while now. We are happy to have them join our other media partners like Ghana Music, Ameyaw Debrah, George Britton, and Cypress Ghana among many others.“

“We are happy to be on board officially this year, don’t forget I am also a native of Tema so it is with pleasure that I assist to put my city on the global map, especially with all this buzz from the high influx of visitors to Ghana as a result of the President’s invitation to Africans in the Diaspora to visit Ghana. AfroXmas headline supporters One Click Photography, and King Louis Entertainment are going to give us all something exciting to look forward to,” said Oral Ofori, Founder of TheAfricanDream.net from his base in Washington DC.
The official lineup for this year’s AfroXmas will see the festival kick-off on December 21 with a Durbar and Cultural Gala at the forecourt of TMA in Community 1, Tema. There will be a Food Bazaar and Carols Night the following day at Leisure Pub Street in Community 11. On the 23rd of December respective Tema Communities will convene at the same venue for the Community Games and Stunt Biking with many cool antics.
AfroXmas Street Jam falls on Christmas eve with lots to eat and drink while notable Tema acts take to the stage with musical performances and cultural displays at the Leisure Pub Street. “Then on Wednesday, December 25 the ever-popular AfroXmas Masquerade Carnival is going to besiege Community 4 in Tema, starting at Vera Street,” said Ahmed Abdul-Rasheed, AKA General Tombo of SyPhics.
As part of the event’s humanitarian efforts, AfroXmas will on December 26 head to the Tema General Hospital to donate to, interact with the staff and patients of the hospital, and engage in some communal activities as their way of appreciating the city and bringing some holiday cheer to those there.
Tema Newtown will on the last day of the festival welcome all to the final item on the AfroXmas calendar — Kids Party — on New Year’s Day 2020. The city of Tema will welcome some 5 thousand visitors for AfroXmas according to General Tombo: “We are already excited to give the world our best on this historic week-long event. Follow the excitement online with the hashtag #AfroXmas2019 and join us make history.“
