AfroXmas 2016 In Ghana To Be Exciting Says Syphics Studios
The AfroXmas Music Festival will set the west African port city of Tema – located in Ghana – agog when Syphics Studios and MIMLife Records hosts the second edition come December 2016.
AfroXmas venue goes back to the Chemu Secondary School Park near the Narh Bita hospital in Tema Community 7 this year. Artists expected to perform are multi-award-winning Mugeez and Paeday of the Black Entertainment Television (BET) nominated R2Bess Afropop sensation group from Ghana.
Afropop and Reggae sensation Stonebwoy, and Sarkodie ‘the rapperhollic’; both multiple award-winning Ghanaian acts and also BET-nominees are expected on the bill. These acts will be joined by a host of others, who have all promised to go all out to improve on the success of the maiden edition of the music festival.
AfroXmas fun begins
On Monday, December 26, 2016, the one-day festival kicks off with a float from 5AM – 10:00AM in the morning. Then it will be followed by a food bazaar at 11:00AM that will last till 6PM. While all that is happening the musical concert will be ongoing from midday to 6:00PM at the Chemu Park in Community 7, Tema.
Benjamin Swanzy Kwesi who is the CEO of Syphics Studios, the brains behind AfroXmas told TheAfricanDream.net in an interview in Ghana that “this one-day festival in December, is now officially an annual event. We will continue to proudly organize and host it because it is our small way of giving back to the community.”
Through the efforts of their local partners, the event seeks to maintain its hallmark of celebrating and showcasing the rich Ghanaian culture to the international community. It also seeks to evolve networking possibilities and an overall Afrocentric atmosphere for all to enjoy.
We are not only about music
Ahmed Abdul-Rashed, Administrative Manager of Syphics Studios sheds more light by saying “we are not solely about music, the 2016 festival, like last year’s, will continue to celebrate Ghana’s music, fashion, food, arts and crafts and culture. Come expecting to make great memories from amazing humans. Yes, on the menu will be Ghanaian dishes like jollof rice, fufu, omo tuo, tilapia and other.”
An estimated 6,000 people are expected at AfroXmas this year, which will be a projected 10% increase from the maiden event according to organizers. Based on this projection and the success of the first edition, organizers are calling on individuals and institutions to support the event through its sponsorship opportunities.
TheAfricanDream LLC, a US-based information and communication consultancy on African Affairs is a media partner of the 2016 AfroXmas as part of plans to appeal to Diaspora Africans and individuals outside Ghana.
