King Cruff ft Stonebwoy & Jag.huligin in new single ‘Shedoeneed’
Canadian-Jamaican artist, King Cruff (born Solomon Marley-Spence — a grandson of Bob Marley) released his anticipated third single ‘Shedoeneed‘ alongside the official music video shot in Kingston, Jamaica, and directed by Kit Weyman, via Tuff Gong Collective/Universal Music Canada.
The single combines Afrobeats, dancehall, R&B and pop, to give a unique mix of genres Cruff has crafted into his signature sound. Featuring verses from award-winning Ghanaian artist Stonebwoy and Bahamian MC Jag.Huligin, the celebratory ode to independent women is also King Cruff’s most collaborative song till date.
“Getting the chance to release a track with one of my closest friends and collaborators Jag.Huligin is a moment in itself,” said King Cruff. “On top of that, to have Afrobeats legend Stonebwoy bring his incredible talent and lyrical perspective to the track just took it to the next level.”
‘Shedoeneed’ follows King Cruff’s Top 40 radio hit ‘Soufflé‘ and label debut ‘Samurai Chop‘ which earned him the title of Pandora’s Artist to Watch: Caribbean.
“‘Shedoeneed’ is one for the independent ladies,” said King Cruff to TheAfricanDream.net in a statement. “My family has always had a powerful matriarchal energy and growing up surrounded by strong women has inspired me to search for strength within myself. I have a deep respect for women and this song celebrates the beauty and strength in their confidence.”
The brilliant 25-year-old has spent the summer months on stages in Canada, the US and Jamaica for cultural events like Toronto’s Caribana and Afro Carib Fest, the Tuff Gong Takeover in New York alongside Skip Marley, at both the LA and Toronto opening nights of the Bob Marley One Love Experience and at multiple festivals throughout the summer.
King Cruff views his songs as think pieces set to his original ‘punky’ sound. Uniting his love for hip-hop, reggae, dancehall and funk, the versatile artist creates music formed from an ear-bending mix of genres across the diaspora.
“King Cruff is an introspective storyteller. He understands what people want and gives them with energizing, innovative sounds that uplift and inspire. His music is full of vibrant rhythms and lyrical tempos that are deep to the soul,” said his management.
