Olivia A. Semaha Co-Founder of Angelic Love Home Care (ALHC), a family-run and independently owned Non-Medical Home Care agency in Framingham, Massachusetts, in the USA says her institution which has been providing basic assistive comprehensive services to patients in American homes is now seeking to branch out into her native country of Ghana.

In a conversation with TheAfricanDream.net Olivia said one of her goals was to be able to offer ALHC’s services to clients in her native Ghana specifically to the elderly in need of Alzheimer’s, Multiple Sclerosis, and Dementia Care among others in related conditions.

We commend those in Ghana and other parts of Africa that are sticking to standards similar to the services we provide here at ALHC and are glad to say we are excited to join them in lifting these standards and helping society appreciate their needs. — Olivia A. Semaha

“Angelic Love Home Care feel people in Ghana with varying ages that demand personal support at home, in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and assisted living facilities will provide us with a great opportunity to go to work doing what we do best. It is also our intention to help create the needed awareness for such persons in their society as far as their need for special attention and fair treatment based on competence is concerned.

It is very important according to Olivia “that we are non-discriminatory and very selfless when caring for these persons. ALHC believes the provision of personal care, meal preparation, medication reminders, light housekeeping, running light errands and escorting clients to doctor’s visits or simple walks are a few of some of the important things that goes a long way to make life less complicated for clients and their families.”

As she recounts her inspiration for the founding of ALHC to TheAfricanDream.net Olivia said when her grandmother fell and broke her hip in Ghana and got hospitalized for a long time she saw the toll it had on the entire family especially her mother. There were times when she personally had to take time off personal activities to care for her grandmother.

Those were some hard times on my family and even though they never complained about the situation I knew it was not easy for them. I had wished I could have helped more and it is on the premise of this burning desire to be of more help that ALHC was founded after discovering the homecare system when my family and I relocated to the US in 2009.

I thought that it was amazing to receive available help (assistance) from qualified nursing assistants at a very affordable price. From that moment I knew right away that the homecare option will be perfect for our Ghanaian setting.”

“Having our ailing and aged parents and grandparents with us at our homes and knowing that there is available and affordable help when one has need for such provides the peace of mind that we all need. I have seen it work in the US and I want to be part of those helping Ghana to experience it through.”

The Ghana branch of ALHC officially started operations under the name Angelic Love Home Care Gh in June 2016. The parent company hopes to have branches in all fifty states across America by the year 2025, branch out into all 10 regions of Ghana by 2020 and make the homecare business more common and professional in Ghana and Africa.
