BET Awards 2022: See the Complete List of Winners
Influential figures from every corner of the entertainment industry were present for the 22nd annual Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards ceremony, which was held on Sunday night, June 26, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, hosted by Taraji P. Henson.
The Awards is an epic celebration of Black culture and achievement in music, cinema, television, literature and sports that have had the greatest cultural effect in the previous year; the event this year didn’t go unnoticed.
The ceremony featured standout performances by Lizzo, Chlöe, Jack Harlow, and others. Doja Cat took the top spot among nominees for the BET Awards 2022 with nominations in six categories for her Planet Her album and accompanying singles.
Drake, honoured for his efforts on the Certified Lover Boy album from last year, and Ari Lennox, recognised for her single, follow closely behind with four nominations apiece “Unloyal,” a Summer Walker collaboration, and “Pressure.”
Chlöe, Baby Keem, and Silk Sonic (Bruno Mars & Anderson) were among the other top nominations for the next award. Lennox, 31, and Drake, 35, were closely followed by Paak, Future, H.E.R., Jazmine Sullivan, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Mary J. Blige, and Tems, who each had three nominations.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, which has previously gone to people like Whitney Houston, Prince, and others, was also given to Sean “Diddy” Combs. The distinguished award seeks to recognise persons who, during their long careers, have not only profoundly influenced Black culture but have also been transformative leaders.
