KAAZI, THE NEW SPORTS STARTUP RESHAPING TALENT IDENTIFICATION IN AFRICA, LAUNCHES PUBLIC BETA
Late last month Kaazi launched a public beta of its football talent identification and recruitment platform on the web, which will be available to all football players in Africa.
Kaazi is a web-based platform that allows football players to build their own football profile. Players can add videos and upload match highlights to showcase their talent directly to scouts and professional football clubs. Scouts and professional football clubs can use the app to search for talents and organise football trial matches.
The app is currently free for all football players and recruiters on www.kaazi.live
“Kaazi is here to give visibility and provide a safe platform where African football players can showcase their talents. Africa is the go-to market for talents, we want to build a strong community to empower these players.”- said Nana Yaw Oppong-Mensah, founder of Kaazi.
Kaazi also includes a verification process for recruiters in order to ensure players safety. African football players continue to be in high demand in top European football leagues, but their journeys isn’t always smooth. An estimated 15,000 African football players are trafficked annually with the hope of signing a professional contract in Europe.
Nana Yaw says “At Kaazi we believe we can shape the future of football; we are on the journey to build the biggest football talent network in Africa. We want football players in the remotest part of Africa to be able to safely showcase their talents and get scouted.”
Kaazi was founded last year in the midst of Covid-19. Founder of Kaazi Nana Yaw Oppong-Mensah, an English FA licensed football coach and scout, witnessed the increasing frustration and desperation of football players in his hometown in Ghana. Last month Kaazi gave early access to football players from Nana Yaw’s network living in Ghana and Nigeria. Kaazi now plans to onboard recruiters and thousands of football players during its public beta.
